Military justice in Uganda

Dr. Ronald Naluwairo
Belated congratulations to Ronald Naluwairo on his important article, Military courts and human rights: A critical analysis of the compliance of Uganda's military justice with the right to an independent and impartial tribunal, 12 Afr. Hum. Rgts. L.J. 448 (2012). Dr. Naluwairo is deputy dean for postgraduate studies and administration at the Makerere University School of Law. Click here for an earlier paper by the same author. For Righting Military Injustice, a 2011 Human Rights Watch report critical of Uganda's use of military courts to try civilians, click here. Uganda continues to try retired military personnel by court-martial, as illustrated by the 2013 case of Capt. (ret) Amon Byarugaba.
