Idle speculation about the Sterling certiorari petition

LCpl Monifa J. Sterling, USMC
On March 15, 2017, the Solicitor General's Office is due to file its response to the petition for a writ of certiorari in Lance Corporal Monifa J. Sterling v. United States, No. 16-814, seeking review of a decision of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. The petition was submitted on December 23, 2016, before President Trump took office. The case involves a claim under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which is presumably a hot-button issue for the new administration. Quaere: will the acting SG oppose the petition, consent to a grant of certiorari, or refuse to sign a response that consents to a grant? If the government does not oppose the petition, will the Court appoint an amicus to do so?
